About Spoken History All histories are hostage to their authors. I've done my best to select statements that I believe to be of historical significance beyond the prolific rhetoric of politics, but each sound clip is a bet with posterity. In the meantime, because posterity can take a while to arrive, please email me your comments, suggestions, and sound-clips, preferably pre-edited to limit file size and preferably in mp3 format. Please note that you need to click on the printer icon at the top of the page if you want to print out a page. For teachers, I suggest that your students may benefit from Spoken History as a research source, while awakening their enthusiasm for history by giving them a living document brought to life by the instant text-to-speech technology employed here. I gratefully ackowledge the archive at www.thebots.net for most of the source material for our first history, The War On Terror, with some additional material from www.activeopposition.com . In editing this material, we have removed some silent segments to minimise download times, but nothing has been juxtaposed or otherwise changed.. I hope you enjoy this unique approach to living history.
